The official vote declaring American’s independence from Britain actually took place on July 2, 1776. It was published in papers on July 4th
There were 2.5 million people living in the U.S. when the Declaration of Independence was signed. Today, the US population is 326.7M
July 4th was not deemed a federal holiday until 1870, nearly 100 years after the nation was founded.
Americans are expected to eat 150 million hot dogs over the July 4th holiday. 7 billion will be consumed between Memorial Day and Labor Day. ðŸŒ

"Kennedy Center artist brightens Bridgeport’s Homes for the Brave" - CTPost
On June 28, The Kennedy Center hosted a very special event at MDAC. Christina Bevans, one of our many amazing MDAC artists, donated her painting "Sunrise at Pearl Harbor Street" to Homes for the Brave, in Bridgeport, CT. Christina created the masterpiece in 2021 and dedicated it to the brave people who lost their lives on Dec. 7, 1941.
Homes for the Brave provides housing and services necessary to help veterans and homeless individuals return to a productive and meaningful life.
On hand to celebrate Christina and her generosity were Vincent Santilli, Homes for the Brave CEO/Executive Director, Representative Jim Himes, Mayor Joe Ganim, and State Representative David Rutigliano

On June 15, Congressman Jim Himes met with Jamie Jarzynski (pictured here) and staff from The Kennedy Center to discuss how his office can support the agency's important work creating opportunities for disabled individuals in the community. The services and support The Kennedy Center provides ensure adults with disabilities are taken care of and given an equal chance at meaningful employment.
On Wednesday, June 15, The Kennedy Center Auxiliary hosted its annual Sunday Bowling League Awards Dinner. Auxiliary member Barbara-Ann Cavanaugh was presented with the Hector Bravo Award for her many years of dedicated service to the bowlers and Alex Bakos (pictured here) took home the award for third place in the league!
RISE PROM!
On Friday, June 17, RISE Day Program transformed their space in Stratford and hosted their first-ever PROM for the individuals who attend! A fun and fabulous time was had by all!
